Wedding dress shopping with BHLDN

January 21, 2019 · BHLDN, bride, Uncategorized, wedding, wedding dress

It’s officially planning time! Kevin and I have booked the venue and made the guest list. We are keeping things very small for the wedding and doing something out-of-town. More to come on all my wedding details.

I have never been that type of girl who was planning their wedding from childhood. Yes, I have a Wedding Pinterest board, but it’s more in admiration of the beautiful gowns, floral and diamonds. When BHLDN reached out about doing a dress try-on, I was super excited and extremely nervous. To be honest, I just always envisioned getting married in a little white slip on the beach. Since Kevin and I decided to bring some family to the wedding, I figure I might as well dress up a bit! After all, I need to get the full bridal experience, even if I’m not having a full big wedding.

The girls at the Carlsbad BHLDN store were amazing. I booked my appointment and kept my mind open to trying everything on. I grabbed things that I would never even think of trying on, because you just never know! And let me tell you ladies, trying on the dresses is EVERYTHING! Things that I loved on the rack, didn’t fit right once I actually tried them on. You just never know.

There were a few things I took away from the experience that I thought I would share:

1. Be open to trying anything and everything on.

2. Try your favorites on again after you do the initial try-on of everything. My mom and my best friend loved some the first time, but the second time I came out, the initial “bride” shock simmered down and they were able to look at the dress and determine if it fit my personality.

3. Maybe this is more for me, but comfort is a HUGE factor for dresses. Make sure you feel comfortable in it. Not just with how you look, but how you feel. Some of these dresses can be A LOT, so make sure you can dance, sit and just be yourself in the dress without having to fidget constantly.

4. You may get tired and overwhelmed, but just remember that you will find that dress and know the second you put it on. It’s worth the search and something that really does feel special with you finally find it.

I will keep my wedding day reveal a secret until that time, but here were some of my absolute favorites from the day. I also picked out a few jumpsuits for pre-wedding festivities like my bridal shower, bachelorette and/or rehearsal dinner.

If you are a new bride and in Carlsbad, I recommend scheduling a fitting today! Bring your mom, friends, or anyone to sip on Champagne and play dress up for the afternoon.

Sherpa weather

December 14, 2018 · Uncategorized

Temperatures are getting cooler in San Diego (finally!) and I am jumping on the sherpa coat band-wagon. There is something about faux fur that I crave in the winter. I try to keep things neutral when I shop and not go too crazy with any trends, but I couldn’t resist the soft coats coming out. Did I mention they are “on trend” right now? You can find them just about everywhere! I rounded up some that I have purchased and others I have been eyeing… I mean, you can never have enough options, right?

Hope you all have an amazing weekend and happy shopping!
