When I started writing this post, I was going to list all the cute dresses you could buy for New Year’s Eve. Instead, I wanted to highlight this one dress and talk about the year ahead. This time of the year is so overwhelming with shopping, sales and gifts. It’s nice to just keep things simple. The perfect little black dress (LBD) is something so timeless and effortless and will fit right into whatever NYE plans I have (or don’t have). This past year has had some very high points and extremely low ones too. I am looking forward to resetting my intentions for 2018 and starting the new year.
First things first, this LBD. Paper Crown has such a feminine and sophisticated style when it comes to their clothes. I was fortunate enough to work with them again this year and selected this little black number to wear to some upcoming holiday celebrations. To be honest, I don’t exactly have any “official” plans, but even if that means I will be staying at home and drinking Champaign with my neighbor at midnight, I am dressing up and doing it right!
The theme of the moment that I keep coming back to is, keeping things simple. Maybe I am getting older, but it is also a reflection on how so many things have changed this past year and forced me to simplify my life.
Which brings me to my second part of this post. I have had what seems like the craziest year of my life. Getting laid off, taking time to not work and do yoga every day, and decide that I was willing to pursue blogging full-time and take a waitressing job to pay the bills. Was all this transition easy? No. There was a constant feeling of anxiety and stress about what was going to happen next. Things have mellowed out a bit and I have settled into somewhat of a routine. However, I still find myself searching for something bigger that will bring me into the next chapter of my life. I took the second half of this year to decompress and figure this out, but still haven’t found what that thing is.
Well, the end of the year is her, so I am forced to start fresh and set some intentions for how I want 2018 to look. I have set some amazing resolutions in 2018 to detox and help me pave a path to what will hopefully lead to what I should do with my life. For now, I am going to put on my LBD and celebrate the good, the bad, and ring in the new year!
