This holiday season, I am trying to keep things simple. For once, my family is actually going to follow the “no gift” rule… We will see how that goes. This time of the year can be so rushed, busy and cramped with events, but it goes by so fast and I tend to get so stressed about everything going perfectly, that I stop to actually enjoy it. The holidays are about family and giving thanks. So I decided that this year, I wanted to keep things simple with gifts and family, but also with my life and my closet.
A few months ago I cleared out my entire closet and gave away half of everything I owned. Was it hard? Absolutely. How did I feel after? Completely lost and anxious. After the anxiety faded away, I felt a huge sense of relief! Relief from all my stuff that I though I needed. All the stuff that I thought defined me. I learned that you can simplify and still be yourself. Keeping things easy and simple allowed me to clear all the clutter from my head and my closet and give space to those things that truly mean something to me.
I don’t have a beautiful walk-in closet, so actually being able to see all my clothing that I “hand picked” and decided to keep, can be seen and worn! Now, that does’t mean I will totally give up shopping. I mean, I am a fashion blogger and I truly have a passion for clothing. But it does help me to sort out what I need verses what I want.
To bring this back to fashion, which is why you come and visit my site. Sometimes you have to keep things simple when getting dressed and picking out your outfits. Wearing all black or shades of black can make the perfect outfit. I bet you already have some of these items in your closet that you can pick out, so no need to go purchase more black (although, you can never have too much black).
With that I invite you to try simplifying your life and taking some time this holiday season to stop and smell the cookies, enjoy your family and not focus too much on your outfit. Just keep it simple.
