There is just something so refreshing and invigorating about working out. As I mentioned in THIS POST, I have been a gym rat for as long as I can remember. Something about getting my blood pumping and sweating just feels so cleansing. While I am working out, all I think about is performing that task, set or round of cardio. It allows me to clear my head and just be present. In a way, it has become a form of meditation for me.
We all have our forms of meditation. My boyfriend can sit for hours and focus on being present and breathing. Others do yoga or walk. I have found that when I am at the gym, on my bike or in my house doing a Tone It Up video, I just focus on my strength and what is happening in front of me. This has become so important for me to recenter myself and clear my head.
I know all to well using working out as a form to punish my body and overwork it to achieve that “perfect” figure. It takes time, patience and self love to switch this mindset and use your body as a machine to get stronger and perform better. Over the past several years, I have learned to respect my body and respect the time I take to workout so that I can feel the benefits and use this time for myself. A time to reset, to sweat something out, or to just feel good. Women can be so hard on themselves, so finding something that allows you to feel better and just chill is priceless.
Whatever it is that makes you present and happy, you need to do it and do it every day.
What are your forms of meditation?
